Bien qu'il soit né à Hamilton en Ontario, Leslie Moore grandit aux USA et prend la nationalité Américaine. Bien qu'il fasse sa demande pour rentrer dans l'USAAC, il lui manque les deux années d'étude requises pour être admissible. Il décide donc de rejoindre la RCAF et signe son engagement en août 1941. Après avoir achevé son entraînement, un an plus tard, il rejoint la Grande Bretagne avec le grade de Sergeant. Après un passage à l'AFPU 5 jusqu'en octobre , il effectue la dernière phase de son entraînement à l'OTU 57 et rejoint le Squadron 402 en janvier 1943 avec une promotion de F/S à la clés.

Promu Officier en avril 1943 et Flying Officer en octobre, il est affecté, en mars 1944, au Squadron 441 nouvellement formé pour y servir comme Chef d'Escadrille. Il termine son tour d'opérations le 22 juillet et après un bref passage à l'Etat-Major de l'ADGB (Air Defense of Great Britain), il est affecté comme instructeur à l'OTU 53. Il reçoit la DFC au début août 1944, la citation qui l'accompagen lui reconnaissant 6 victoires sans indiquer que la moitié ont été obtenu en collaboration.

En février 1945, il retourne au Squadron 402 pour un nouveau tour d'opérations mais le 25 mars, il est tué au combat. Une DFC est attribuée le 3 avril 1945 pour son action en qualité d'instructeur.

Distinguished Flying Cross le 8 août 1944

This officer has participated in a large number of sorties involving attacks on a wide range of targets. In July 1944 he took part in an engagement against eight enemy aircraft, five of which were shot down, two of them by Flight Lieutenant Moore. In the fight, this officer led his small formation of aircraft with great skill, setting an inspiring example. He has destroyed six hostile aircraft.

This officer was posted to No.53 Operational Training Unit as a flying instructor and flight commander in August 1944. He has carried out his duties with the greatest keenness and enthusiasm. He has maintained the highest standards in his work which is of a most exacting nature. He is largely responsible for the excellent morale and spirit of the Advanced Training Squadron.
