Né à Montréal en 1912, Joseph Larichelière effectue des études universitaires de 1931 à 1933 avant de s'engager dans la RAF en 1939. Dans le même temps il parvient à passer le concours pour devenir pilote civil et le 18 mai 1940, il est finalement affecté au Squadron 504 avant d'être transféré 1 semaine plus tard au Squadron 213. Avec cette unité, il remporte 6 victoires en seulement deux jours mais le 16 août, il est à son tour abattu et tué en combat aérien, son appareil s'écrasant en mer. Il n'aura pas survécu assez longtemps pour apprendre l'attribution de sa DFC.
